Right from the intro, UC creates a space of inclusiveness, creating this e-book for “women and non-binary vulva owners”. UC shines a light on the intersectionality of identities and the systems that oppress. So, before she even gets into the material you might expect her to cover, this “Swagger Guide” immediately addresses the elephant in the room – that racism, sexism, homophobia etc work to dismantle how people feel about their sexuality.
She then discusses how shame can manifest specifically as sexual shame and a tool to work with it. She discusses libido, orgasm, language to help people ask for what they want, sexual joy, and confidence.
As a pelvic health physical therapist I work with a lot of folks who experience shame and disappointment on how their sex life feels different while they are working on rehabbing sexual pain. I really appreciated the 9th swagger tip “Stop having pedestal sex”.
UC is an esteemed colleague and amazing speaker who I have admired for years. This e-book is so authentically her voice, it’s almost as if I can hear her calm, positive, and encouraging self asking us to lean in to the zone of curiosity to discover what pleasure awaits. I will be recommending this book to all of my patients!
